RTE issues €1 million tender to expand Brussels office

Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ) has launched a tender valued at around €1 million to enhance its Brussels office, which is tasked with supporting the operations of the Europe Editor, permanently based in the city.

The contract is divided into three lots, covering shooting and editing facilities, office space, and add-on services.

The tender specification notes that “RTÉ…seeks to procure professional, fully serviced multiplatform news facilities in Brussels to support the operations of its Europe Editor, who is permanently based in the city.”

The facilities will serve as the primary working base for delivering high-quality content across broadcast, digital, and audio platforms, with a focus on coverage of the European Union and international affairs.

Office requirements include space for two desks, storage for broadcast equipment, and a minimum area of 3m x 4m. Operational staffing is also requested, including personnel available during standard hours and capable of extended coverage when needed, as well as reception staff to manage visitors and contributors.

Lot three addresses additional services such as translation and interpretation, administrative and accreditation support, research and editorial assistance, story production, and local services.

The tender also outlines expectations for logistics, service delivery, quality assurance, editorial sensitivity, and environmental considerations.

The contract, posted on Ireland’s government procurement platform, eTenders, represents a strategic investment in supporting RTÉ’s public service broadcasting obligations and enhancing its capacity to report on EU affairs efficiently.

RTÉ is Ireland's national public service broadcaster, a statutory body based in Donnybrook, Dublin, funded through a combination of television licence fees and commercial advertising.
