Industry NewsEmbraer partners with Hindalco for strategic aluminium procurement
Embraer, the aircraft manufacturer based in Brazil, has established a partnership with Hindalco Industries of India for aluminium sourcing to support its global aircraft production programmes. The agreement diversifies Embraer's supply chain whilst positioning Hindalco as a strategic aerospace materials supplier beyond its established domestic market.
The Hindu BusinessLine reported that the partnership will see Hindalco supply aerospace-grade aluminium alloys to Embraer's manufacturing facilities in Brazil and potentially other global locations. The collaboration addresses Embraer's requirement for reliable, high-quality aluminium supply as the company expands production of commercial and executive jets.
Hindalco Industries, part of the Aditya Birla Group, operates as one of Asia's largest aluminium producers with established capabilities in aerospace-grade materials manufacturing. The company has invested in certification processes and quality systems to meet stringent aerospace industry standards required by manufacturers including Embraer.
Embraer's commercial aircraft division produces regional jets serving airlines globally, whilst its executive aviation segment manufactures business jets for corporate and private customers. Both product lines require significant aluminium volumes for fuselage, wing and structural components, making strategic supplier relationships critical to production planning.
The procurement partnership reflects growing engagement between Brazilian aerospace manufacturers and Indian materials suppliers as companies seek to de-risk supply chains concentrated in traditional Western markets. Hindalco gains access to aerospace contracts whilst Embraer secures alternative sourcing capacity.
Aerospace aluminium procurement requires rigorous quality assurance, traceability and certification compliance, with suppliers maintaining extensive documentation and testing protocols throughout the supply chain. Hindalco has established dedicated aerospace business units to serve international original equipment manufacturers.
The collaboration positions both companies to expand their respective market positions, with Hindalco targeting increased aerospace sector revenue and Embraer strengthening supply chain resilience across key materials categories.
