EirGrid launches offshore wind substation procurement for grid connections

EirGrid has launched procurement for offshore wind substation infrastructure to connect renewable energy projects to Ireland's electricity grid, with the contract covering design, construction and installation of offshore transmission infrastructure. The procurement supports Ireland's offshore wind development programme, enabling connection of multi-gigawatt renewable generation capacity to the national transmission system.

Afloat reported that the offshore substation procurement addresses grid connection requirements for offshore wind farms planned off Ireland's coast.
