This award recognises the project or initiative that can best demonstrate a reduction in the impact on the environment as result of efforts in procurement or the supply chain. This can be on a single project or across a series of projects, but it must have been executed or ongoing over the past 12 months.

Entry is by a 5-page A4 PDF submission; the judges will be looking for a clear plan and evidence that it is delivering on core objectives, paying attention to the criteria listed below.

  • Organisation Background: Please provide a brief description of the organisation and the procurement function within the organisation, including team and organisational structure.
  • Project Background: Please provide a background of the project or initiative including how environmental considerations were successfully embedded, the rationale behind it, brief and objectives, key team members, project budget and timeline.
  • Execution & Challenges: Describe how the brief was fulfilled using a clear execution plan, detailing key milestones and high level actions, and including any challenges faced and how the team worked together to overcome them.
  • Sustainability: Please include details of the use of local, Irish and sustainable products and services for this project. Please also describe, if any, the steps taken to reduce waste (including water) and increase recycling rates. Please include facts and figures to back this up, including any downward trends in annual figures.
  • Outcomes & Results: Summarise the outcomes of the project including the contribution to business growth and/or benefits to the stakeholders.
  • Supporting facts & statements: Include any other facts or statements that you feel are relevant to support the entry, including awards and accreditations in the procurement field.
